The Libyan National Center for Disease Control launched an emergency "extraordinary" campaign for vaccination against the Coronavirus in Greater Tripoli municipalities on Saturday due to the recent hike in infections.

The center said the vaccination campaign includes all citizens and nationals in the municipalities to limit the spread of Coronavirus, targeting in the first phase 40.000 doses.

Earlier on Saturday, the Libyan Health Ministry said vaccination units were distributed to several areas in Tripoli like Martyrs Square, Abu Salim hospital square, Shatt Road and other major areas.

The health services administration of Tripoli urged people who didn't get the vaccine to visit the announced vaccination spots to get vaccinated.
