The head of the EU diplomatic mission in Libya, Jose Sabadell, said on Saturday that the Libyan elections are an opportunity to look ahead and end the instability in the country.

Speaking at the Mediterranean Dialogues Forum, Sabadell said that the planned year-end election in Libya is not a magic wand that would transform Libya into a perfectly functioning democratic country overnight, however; it's an opportunity to look to the future and put an end to the current status, according to the Italian Nova Agency.

"The Libyan people are the ones to decide what they want for themselves and their children," Sabadell added, stressing that the next stage must be led by the Libyans.
