The Supreme Council of Elders and Notables of Libya has called on the Presidential Council to use its power to dissolve the House of Representatives and the High Council of State and issue a decree for holding legislative elections.

In a statement on Sunday, the Council reiterated the right to peaceful demonstration until the Libyans have their "legitimate demands" fulfilled.

The group called for the swift implementation of parliamentary elections, considering it the only way out through the political deadlock.

They condemned the closure of oil ports and urged the neutralization of the oil sector from "conflicts, political disputes, and regional interests," saying that there is no alternative to national reconciliation to heal the rift caused by the conflict.
