Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry has affirmed his country's rejection of military solutions in Libya, saying that dialogue is the only way to hold simultaneous presidential and legislative elections as soon as possible.

In a joint press conference with Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg, Shoukry added that Egypt supports the efforts made by the constitutional track meetings in Cairo, then in Geneva, and the meetings of the Joint Military Commission 5 + 5 to consolidate the ceasefire.

“The ongoing political turmoil indicates the dissatisfaction of a large segment of Libyans with the postponement of the elections”, he added, pointing out that Cairo supported the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum and the decisions it took, but they were not implemented.
