Minister of Economy and Industry Ali Al-Issawi said that the state-owned Price Stabilization Fund (PSF) is unable to assume the responsibility for providing price stability in the market, stressing that the ministry has no plans to return to previous supporting programs.

"The PSF is facing great challenges, burdensome debts and onerous obligations," Issawi explained.

He also reiterated that the current stage requires the ministry to activate mechanisms in order to provide goods to the citizen at an appropriate price, so as to prevent commodity price shocks in the domestic market, pointing out that the new mechanisms do not include the Price Stabilization Fund, but refers to other alternatives.
