An official at Benina Airport in Benghazi said that the last date set to receive flights from Istanbul Airport will be before July 14.

The official, who did not wish to identify himself, added that citizens should confirm their return flights before that date because flights will be closed permanently after the middle of July.

Passengers wishing to return to Benghazi after this date will be forced to bear the cost of travelling via another country if they exceed the date specified, the source added.

The travel ban that forbids Libyans living in the eastern part of the country from visiting Turkey only affects the eastern region of Libya, which is under control of the military junta of warlord Khalifa Haftar.

Military experts said Haftar’s move to sever relations with Turkey aimed to distract the public opinion from their recent defeat in Gharyan city.
