A number of diplomats have revealed the continuation of the division among the members of the Security Council during the closed meeting held on Tuesday, to discuss the Libyan file and the future role of the United Nations.

According to Agence France-Presse, the Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations for Political Affairs, Rosemary A. DiCarlo, stressed in Tuesday's meeting the importance of extending the international mission for a year.

For his part, UN spokesman, Stephane Dujarric stressed the need for Libyan leaders to unite for the sake of the Libyan people.
