The Italian Foreign Minister, Luigi Di Maio, said that the process of stabilizing Libya has now begun and it still has a long way to go to reach the final goal.

Di Maio added, in a speech to the Mediterranean Dialogues on Friday, that the pathway to Libyan dialogue must be preserved under all circumstances in order to reach a fully comprehensive political solution, which must be achieved by Libyans themselves, with regard to the security of their country.

He also stressed the need to foil all attempts to sabotage the progress made so far, which began with the ceasefire and the resumption of essential oil production, as he put it.
