Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio has indicated that the maritime delimitation agreement signed between Tripoli and Ankara is a bilateral understanding between the two sides.

"The decision whether to cancel the Libyan-Turkish agreement or not rests solely with the Libyans," Di Maio said in an interview with the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera.

The Italian top diplomat indicated that it was interesting to see the Libyans receive the Greek officials who opened their embassy in Tripoli. "This scenario is unique and offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity," Di Maio explained.
