The Tunisian Consulate in Tripoli announced the release of 28 Tunisian sailors who had been arrested by the Libyan Coast Guard back on May 5 and subsequently detained in the Port of Zawia.

According to a statement on Monday, the sailors were released after a series of negotiations with Libyan officials, adding that the sailors are in good health and presently returning to their country on-board their vessels.

The Tunisian Consulate thanked the Libyan authorities for their cooperation and fair treatment of the Tunisian sailors throughout their period of detention.
