Derna Chief of Security, Yahya Al-Osta Omar, has condemned the silence of official state authorities and human rights organizations towards the siege that have been imposed on the city for several months now.
In a press statement, Al-Osta said that the city has been suffering from a severe shortage of fuel and foodstuffs for several months, warning that the city is on the brink of a humanitarian crisis.
The coordinator of the Gathering of Derna People, Adel Baraasi, had warned earlier of a complete breakdown of water supplies in the city, due to the depletion of diesel fuel stock in the desalination steam plant.
