The Italian embassy in Libya said that “a cordial meeting” was held on Tuesday between the new Prime Minister-elect, Abdul-Hamid Dbeibah and the Italian ambassador to Libya, Giuseppe Buccino.

The embassy said on its official Twitter account that the meeting witnessed a cordial atmosphere between both parties, acknowledging the fact that the Italian embassy remained open throughout the war.

“Today, we confirm our close friendship and brotherhood, which exists between Libya and Italy, along with the citizens of both countries, all of whom are prepared to work together for a future of peace and stability in Libya and the Mediterranean.” The embassy stated.
