The Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdel Hamid Dbeibah, along with the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, stressed the need for all mercenaries and foreign fighters to start exiting the country without delay.

At a meeting with Guterres, following a Security Council session on Thursday, July 15, Dbeibah strongly stressed the relevance of international partnership in assisting Libya to rid itself of all mercenaries and foreign fighters, in order to finally stabilize Libya and achieve free, transparent, and fair elections.

Both sides discussed methods in which the international community could possibly support Libya’s progress towards stability and elections, due to be held later this year in December.

The meeting also touched on the latest developments in Libya along with serious discussions on the issue of human rights and the present situation regarding the Coronavirus pandemic, according to the Information Office of the GNU.
