The Libyan Council for Oil and Gas has clarified that Sharara oilfield will need 60 days after its restart to recover its production level before closure.

"The National Oil Corporation (NOC) is in urgent need for an executive body to oversee the development of oilfields, including the Sharara field, which is one of the most important Libya's producing oilfields, with a production capacity of 315 thousand barrels per day," the council stated.

Sharara oilfield was closed by angry protesters from "Fezzan Rage Movement" for two weeks, before resuming function on December 20, following a visit conducted by the Presidential Council's head Fayez Al-Sarraj to members of the movement in the field.
