The Supreme Crisis Committee in Misrata, set up to confront the Coronavirus pandemic in the city, recommended the declaration of a ‘state of emergency’ after the increase of the pandemic to a dangerous level in the city.

According to a statement, the recently shuffled Crisis Committee recommended that under no circumstances were funerals or weddings to be held, whilst it ordered the closing down of all public parks, resorts and gathering places.

It reiterated the necessity to adhere to all regulations issued by the General Authority for Awqaf regarding the five prayers, stressing the absolute need to adhere to several protective procedures, including the wearing of face masks, physical distancing and the avoidance of hand-shaking
