About 750 metres of electricity cables have been looted from Qasr Bin Ghashir distribution department in the al-Marazeeq district south of Tripoli, said the state's electricity company (GECOL).

The GECOL reported on Friday several other copper wire thefts, including 2,100 metres of copper wires belonging to South of Zliten distribution department and 700 metres from al-Kharimia district, south of Tripoli.

The company called on all legal utilities to put an end to such "dangerous criminal acts", considering them a real threat that could lead to the collapse of the public grid.
