The Sirte Security Force said it had seized large quantities of copper wires and scrap iron estimated at 35 tons, in addition to 7 rolls of electric cables at a farm in the district of Swawa in Sirte.

According to a report on its official Facebook page, the operation was carried out during a raid on a group of farmers in the Swawa region of Sirte last week.

The farm was allegedly being used by gangs to store stolen copper and scrap metal, which will then be smuggled on and out of Libya. The force confirmed that it has taken all necessary legal procedures in coordination with the Sirte Security Force of Sirte and the Public Prosecution Office.
