A newly-formed Constitution and Elections Support Force that is under the supervision of Defense Ministry has rejected the extension of mandates of the House of Representatives and High Council of State as well as their recent decision to form a parallel government to the Government of National Unity.

The force said in its first statement that it stands ready to defend the right of Libyans to hold elections and have a permanent constitution, adding that insisting on forming a new government would lead to more destruction and bloodshed.

It also warned of imposing the government and trying to set it up in the capital Tripoli, saying it will use force if necessary to thwart such a move in order to preserve the civilian state, and adding that legitimacy comes from people not from criminals who killed and displaced people.
