Two local fighters from the oasis town of Kufra and seven Chadian rebels were killed in clashes near the Libya’s borders with Chad.

Local sources said the clashes broke out in Hanagar region, 300km southwest of Kufra, early on Saturday after a group of Chadian rebels penetrated the Libyan territories.

The two dead Libyan fighters were identified as Omer Al-Eida and Abdullah Al-Modeer of Sobl Al-Salam Brigade.

The sources added Chadian and Sudanese rebel groups usually penetrate the Libyan territories for robbery and kidnapping for ransom.
