The Civil Aviation Authority announced that it is to close down Tobruk International Airport for three days from July 29-31 after a number of people stormed the airport control tower and forced workers to leave, demanding the suspension of the air traffic.

On its Facebook page, the Civil Aviation Authority explained that the decision was issued to maintain the safety of passengers and airplanes, stressing that if Airports Authority continues to take no action on the matter, the closure of the airport will continue.

The employees of Tobruk International Airport announced Friday the suspension of administrative work at the airport in protest against the new administration of the airport that was appointed "illegally" by the Airports Authority in Al-Bayda city, as they put it.
