The Chinese Ambassador to the United Nations, Zhang Jun, has reaffirmed his country's position that the solution to the Libyan crisis should be in the hands of Libyans and under their leadership, free of any interference.

Jun's comments came during a meeting with his Libyan counterpart Taher Al-Sunni and delegates of the African group represented in the Security Council to discuss the political developments in Libya.

The African Group stressed the importance of conveniently pursuing the electoral process, citing that the elections should not be an end, but a means to resolve the crisis.

The Chinese official also stressed the need to end all kinds of foreign interference, highlighting the importance of the African role to support national reconciliation.
