Mayor of Central Tripoli, Abdul Raouf Bayt Al-Mal said Saturday, that the buildings in danger of collapse in the municipality of Central Tripoli amount to about 6,300 houses.

"The investigation into the causes of the collapse of the apartment block in Shawqi Street is the jurisdiction of the security authorities," Tripoli's Mayor said in a press statement, adding that the maintenance of houses is the responsibility of the owners and not the state, according to him.

A three-story building in Shawqi street in central Tripoli partly collapsed last week, causing the death of two children and wounding four others.
