A member of the Libyan Constitution Drafting Assembly (CDA) Itimad Elmessalati said Saturday that the members of the House of Representatives (HoR) are seeking to pass a referendum law contrary to the constitutional declaration; to defend themselves in front of the international community, after the head of the United Nations Mission in Libya, Ghassan Salame, criticized the delay in issuing the law.

"The HoR members will not give up power and are turning new corners and making the referendum more complex by dividing Libya into three constituencies," Elmessalati explained in a statement.

She added that the referendum on the constitution will not work out, and will not pass, pointing out that this is unlikely to lead to consensus between the constituencies, while the power will remain in the hands of the HoR.
