The Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, Saddek Elkaber has called on the international community to help end the week-long closure of the oil ports by Khalifa Haftar.

ElKaber added in an interview with Bloomberg "It is too early to assess the damage resulting from the shutdown that led to the suspension of oil exports and forced the National Oil Corporation to declare force majeure, after a year of economic growth and economic reforms in Libya".

He denied allegations regarding the unjust distribution of wealth between cities in Libya, pointing out that the bank publishes periodic reports on its financial transactions.
