In a statement issued after a meeting held in Benghazi yesterday, the Mayors of municipalities in Benghazi, Abiar, Ajdabia, Kufra, Sahel, Abraq and Qmenis all called for a reinstatement of elected Municipal Councils in accordance with the law.

The seven Mayors explained that the Municipal Councils resulted from a purely democratic process, adding that there is no question of their legitimacy.

The Mayors concluded that after Hefter's forces have taken control of Benghazi, there is no need for military rulers who were appointed by the military commander Abdul Razeq Nadori instead of elected Mayors.
