Libya's Ambassador to the United States, Wafa Bugaighis, has called on Washington to engage more effectively in the peace process in Libya by enhancing its diplomatic presence and reopening its embassy in the country.

Bugaighis raised the issue during her meeting with Senator Mike Rounds, a prominent member of the Subcommittee on Africa, Political and Global Health, in which they discussed the latest developments of the economic, political, and security tracks in the Libyan settlment.

For his part, Rounds stressed the need for the US government to take the request of Libya's ambassador seriously, praising the Libyan people for choosing the course of dialogue and negotiation to settle their disputes.
