The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, has expressed the European Union's concern about the situation in Libya.

Referring to the armed clashes erupted in the early hours of Tuesday after the attempt of the Prime Minister of the parallel government, Fathi Bashagha to enter the capital, Tripoli, Borrell said, "What happened is very worrying, but it was expected."

He also indicated that the presence of two governments will sooner or later lead to a clash between them, confirming that they are closely following the situation in the country.

The capital witnessed a security deployment of Brigade 444 of the Ministry of Defense to secure the streets of the capital, Tripoli, after its intervention to end the clashes that took place. In the meantime the Tripoli Security Directorate announced the opening of all roads leading to the Shatt Road.
