The Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, Mikhail Bogdanov held discussions with the UN envoy to Libya, Jan Kubis, on the preparations for the presidential and parliamentary elections, due to take place in Libya on December 24.

Both sides discussed a number of issues by telephone relating to the Libyan settlement process in conformity with the Berlin Conference outcomes and UNSC resolutions number 2510 and 2570, along with the assumption of a fitting legislative framework for the elections, according to a report by the Russian Foreign Ministry.

Bogdanov and Kubis touched on the subject of pushing for the cessation of hostilities along with the establishment of joint armed forces in Libya, on the basis of work already done by the 5+5 Joint Military Commission.
