The Libyan Red Crescent (LRC) has recovered 13 decomposed bodies of Egyptian workers who entered the country illegally on the outskirts of the eastern city of Derna.

The LRC said in a statement Friday that the bodies were covered with sand after they had apparently died due to hunger and thirst in the remote area of Libya.

The statement added that the Egyptians were among a group of illegal immigrants that entered Libya last month.

Earlier, a military patrol found 16 bodies of immigrants in the area of Burdy near Tobruk, bringing the total victims of migration to 29 in one week.
