The Central Committee for Municipal Council Elections has confirmed that preventive measures have been put in place to ensure that voters in the municipalities of Sabratha, Kikkla, Ghat, Sharqia, Al-Qatroun, and Tarragan have the ability to vote securely and safely in light of the Coronavirus pandemic during the upcoming elections scheduled to take place early next August. The announcement was made by Chairman of the Central Committee for Municipal Council Elections, Salim bin Tahia.

"The reason for starting off with these municipalities in particular is that its mayors have exceeded the legal mandate by about two years," Bin Tahia said in a press statement, noting that 92 municipalities will also hold elections between 2020 and 2021.
