Libya will be at the centre of talks between US President Joe Biden and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan as they meet in Brussels today for the NATO summit.

The two leaders will join all 30 members of the alliance and hold a private meeting at a time relations between the two NATO members are particularly tense.

National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said Biden is to discuss with his Turkish counterpart on the sidelines of the NATO summit several topics, including the unsettled security situation in Libya and the eastern Mediterranean in general.

In the same context, Biden told reports at the G7 meeting in Cornwall on Sunday that the relations between Washington and Moscow were at their lowest point owing to Putin's policies that "do not tie with the international standards.

He emphasized that the US seeks no confrontations with Russia, and the two powers should work together to settle the situation in Libya.
