The Head of the Russian contact group on Libya, Lev Dengov, announced the release of the Belarusian military expert Vyacheslav Kachura on Friday after seven years of detention in Libya.

Dengov added that the release was secured after lengthy successful negotiations. He pointed to the fact that the Chechen President was personally involved on the case by being in constant contact with the Russian Foreign Ministry and the Russia Libya contact group.

According to the Russian media outlet Sputnik, the military specialist Kachura came to Libya in July 2011 with a Russian, Ukrainian and Belarusian group and was arrested by the revolutionaries in August of the same year for collaborating with Gaddafi regime officials.
