The Minister of Interior of the Government of National Accord (GNA), Fathi Bashaga, expressed the rejection by the GNA of Operation IRINI due to its one-sidedness.

He said that the operation is aimed solely at preventing support to the UN recognized GNA, but does not follow through with stopping arms supply to warlord Haftar, by land and air.

Bashaga, during a video meeting with officials of the European Union foreign ministries, confirmed that Haftar’s onslaught on Tripoli had failed, stressing the need to stop interference by certain countries, which work to undermine a political solution in Libya.

He said that the sole aim of these countries was to cause instability in Libya, breaking international law by supplying weapons to rogue militias outside of the scope of legitimacy.
