The Minister of the Interior, Fathi Bashaga, encouraged the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), to hasten to set the deadlines for dialogues, saying: “That it would be counter productive to allow procrastination or negative stratagem to take hold.”

In a tweet, Bashaga expressed his great appreciation for the efforts afforded by UNSMIL to bring the parties together, overcoming serious difficulties, noting the ‘distinguished’ role of the UN Acting Envoy, Stephanie Williams and her contributions to the progress of the political process to find a peaceful solution.

He stressed that constructive political talks are the only acceptable way to end the Libyan crisis and rescue the state from a political and institutional division within the country.
