The library of Omar Ibin Abdul Aziz in Bani Walid town opens its doors to people of different groups in a campaign to promote reading under the title "The Book is the best companion". The library is the first in the city to provide readers with free access to books, which varies between religion, history and science categories.

The director of the library, Mohammed Makhzoum, told Bawabt Alwasat website that work on the project started about two and a half years ago, by addressing several public bodies inside and outside Bani Walid city such as The Centre of Libyan Jihad and the Islamic Da'wa Society in Tripoli, in addition to the Asmaria University in Zliten, before launching a campaign of financial donations.

He said that the library contains about 3000 titles in various specializations , and will always be available, aiming to create a reading club in the coming days that will help to bring together many different cultures and rehabilitate the reader by providing the books and knowledge needed.
