The African Union's Social Affairs Commissioner, Amira El-Fadil has disclosed that around 48,000 African migrants in Libya were returned to their countries during the past year 2019.

El-Fadil explained that about 5,000 Africans currently residing Libya will be resettled in other countries, including Rwanda, in coordination with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), noting that the African Union estimates that another 7,000 other migrants are still stranded in Libya.
