The Peace and Security Council (PSC) of the African Union (AU) has emphasized the need for a greater role for the PSC in finding a solution to the Libyan crisis, proposing to appoint a joint AU-UN envoy to Libya.

In a statement following the African ministerial meeting organized by Morocco on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, the PSC expressed deep concern over the worrying situation in Libya that could have far-reaching implications for the security and stability of the region, and the African continent as a whole, according to the text of the statement.
