The African Union (AU) Commissioner for Peace and Security Smail Chergui said they have agreed with the United Nations to cooperate in holding a national reconciliation conference in Libya without specifying its date.

"The conference would be inclusive and would bring together all actors in the Libyan scene," Chergui emphasized on the sidelines of the 32nd AU summit in Addis Ababa, noting that the date for the elections might be determined during the conference.

He also underlined the need for an immediate solution to the crisis; saying that armed groups and foreign interventions has further complicated the situation in Libya and caused it to deteriorate.
