An armed group attacked a power transfer station in the area of Arada in Tripoli, in rejection of the load shedding hours program, developed by the General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL), the GECOL confirmed Wednesday.

"The armed men stormed the site and opened fire inside the station, causing leakage in oil feeding lines and cutting power supplies to the power transformer," the company explained on Facebook.

The GECOL reiterated its demand to the competent authorities to take action towards the phenomenon of attacks on the national grid, in order to prevent the breakdown of the electricity network.
