The General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) announced that electricity wires continue to be stolen in various areas around the country, noting that approximately 4,500 meters were stolen on Saturday in the regions of Zliten, Tarhuna and the Karimiya.

It added that about 1,500 meters also taken on Friday night in the regions of Tajoura and southern Tripoli.

The GECOL has warned of the total collapse of the electrical grid if these serious crimes of theft, robbery and vandalism continue, appealing to the security authorities concerned to protect and secure its equipment and components in order to maintain normal production levels.
