The Archaeological Office of the Municipality of Oujla began maintenance work on the Old Mosque, which is one of the most important monuments and tourist attractions of the city.

The office began the restoration process on the section of the mosque that collapsed several days ago due to erosion of the roof timber.

The head of the Wahat Archaeological Office, Milud Batrun, stated that they are awaiting the first batch of observers from the Libyan Archaeological Authority to view the work and pay for maintenance costs as the mosque is a classified and protected monument under the control of the Libyan Archaeological Authority.
