Spokesman for the Ambulance and Emergency Service, Osama Ali, has confirmed that an ambulance driver of Abu-Salim emergency department was injured by shrapnel in the head on Tuesday, while carrying out his humanitarian work in areas of clashes south of Tripoli, pointing out that he was admitted to hospital to receive the necessary treatment.

Osama Ali called in a press statement to respect relevant international conventions.

"Medical staff stand at the same distance from all parties and are only doing their humanitarian duty," Osama Ali said, calling for the respect for international agreements that prevent targeting paramedics and medical personnel.

Tripoli witnessed yesterday heavy clashes and an indiscriminate shelling on residential areas, which aggravated the already serious humanitarian crisis in the capital.
