The Amazigh Supreme Council has announced that the second day of the new Amazigh year 2968, which falls on Sunday, January 14, will be an official holiday in all local government offices in all Amazigh towns.

The second day will replace the first day (Saturday), which is already an approved weekly holiday in Libya.

The council added in a statement that the decision was made on the reliance of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples and to the decision of the Supreme Council of Amazigh No. 3 of 2013 concerning the adoption of the first day of the Amazigh year as an official holiday.

The council expressed their happy wishes to those celebrating the new year of the Amazigh calendar.
