The Algerian President, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, said that any possible solution in Libya could only come through elections, which would direct civil institutions away from international interference in the conflict.

“Any attempt to reach a solution without elections is a waste of time and an aggravation of the situation in the country.” He said.

Tabboune added in a speech on Saturday, that his country continues supporting Libya with its strategic position and regional weight, in seeking a permanent solution in order to aid the Libyans to find a sound political end to the crisis.

He also warned of what he described as a ‘major catastrophe’, in the event that no solution was found which would unite all Libyans, stressing once more, the necessity to hold speedy legislative elections in which all the Libyan people, from all walks of life, could participate.
