The respective presidents of Tunisia, Kais Saied, and Algeria, Abdelmajid Tabboune, confirmed their similar positions regarding the solution to Libya’s present crisis, which should be a Libyan-Libyan dialogue.

These discussions took place by way of telephone conversations, during which Tabboune agreed to postpone his planned visit due to the spread of the Coronavirus. The Tunisian President confirmed in a statement that the Libyan issue was to be the crux of discussions with Tabboune in Tunisia, had the meeting gone ahead as planned.

He remarked that these talks were paramount, particularly since Kais Saied had failed to persuade the Libyan tribal chiefs to engage in discussions in Tunisia.
