Algeria has rejected a request by the east-based parallel government in eastern Libya to establish diplomatic representation in Benghazi, given that it does not recognize this government as an official representative for Libya, and only deals with it as a party to the Libyan crisis, according to media reports.

Meanwhile, Algerian Foreign Minister, Sabri Boukadoum has confirmed his country's continued efforts to resolve the crisis in Libya.

"A scope of progress still exists and we will see positive progress in the coming days with respect to the Libyan file," Boukadoum said Sunday.

He expressed hope that the UN will appoint a new envoy to Libya accepted by all parties, as soon as possible, who would not take sides with a party at the expense of another.
