A spokesman for the Algerian presidency, Belaid Mohand Oussaid, said that certain Security Council member state, may be responsible for rejecting its envoy, proposed as a replacement to the previous head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya.

He said that it was likely that the objection was made by certain parties whose interest in the stability of Libya was questionable, and who wished to block Algeria’s voice and participation in the regional arena.

Oussaid went on to promise that Algeria would play its full, undiminished role in assisting Libya toward peace, as he put it.
