The Director of the National Center for Disease Control, (NCDC), Badr Al-Din Al-Najjar, warned that Libya may have to resort to a complete lockdown in the event that the Coronavirus pandemic continues to spread at the present rate.

Al-Najjar, in a television interview, described the present epidemic situation in the country as worsening, adding that closures and prohibitions imposed to date are no longer acceptable to citizens.

He went on to point out that the cities of Tripoli, Misrata and Zliten are presently witnessing a societal spread of the virus, which has given rise to hundreds of cases being recorded in those cities.
