The Head of the High Council of State, Khalid Al-Mishri, said that they don't reject holding elections on December 24, but oppose the laws issued unilaterally for those elections by the House of Representatives.

Al-Mishri, in a meeting with mayors on Wednesday, said the High Council of State lodged an appeal at the constitutional department at the court saying elections laws issued by the HoR weren't legal, reiterating the right of the High Council of State to participate in issuing those laws as per the political agreement and Libyan Political Dialogue Forum's roadmap.

He also said that the HoR Speaker, Aqila Saleh, wants to remain in his post forever and doesn't want elections to be held, "that is why he issued invalid laws. We reject Saleh laws, not elections".
