The Head of the High Council of State (HCS), Khaled Al-Mishri, and his accompanying delegation have met with the President-elect of the Republic of Niger, Mohamed Bazoum, on the sidelines of Al-Mishri's visit to Niger, according to a statement by the HCS.
The meeting follows the inauguration of Bazoum, who officially took office as Niger's president on Friday in the country's first-ever democratic changeover two days after the government foiled a coup attempt.
Mishri congratulated the successful elections and the peaceful transfer of power in the Republic of Niger.
The HCS head expressed his aspiration to foster more effective relationships with Niger for the benefit of both countries.
